Authentic medieval recipes.

Mistresses Rebecca had travelled across Europe as a camp follower with her husband when wars were being fought. Now that she has returned to England, she bring with her many different collected recipes and skills. Spices were bartered for and are used extensively in the food she prepares.

Using an authentic and real open fire, using produce known to have been available, not only during the 15th Century, but also during the particular season as well, the delicious aroma from the iron cooking pots wafts across our entire encampment and we often have visitors wanting to share our lunch with us! Although we can not let members of the public sample the food prepared we are happy to share our favourite recipes and medieval cooking secrets with you to try at home.

All the recipes and methods we use are authentic medieval recipes, having been researched and tried and tested many times by our camp cook. So come, learn how to make butter from scratch, discover what spices and herbs were really worth and realise that no matter what century you live in there is always washing to be done!
